Short Biography
Giovanni is a 4th Year Ph.D. Candidate with a strong background in international macroeconomics, trade, and sustainable finance.
As part of the SNSF-funded Sinergia project, Giovanni has contributed to advancing the understanding of how trade agreements can be better designed to address negative spillovers, resulting in a publication in the World Trade Review.
His job market paper, co-authored with Prof. Cédric Tille, explores the global drivers of international investment income and has been presented at high-profile conferences. This work builds upon prior research experience with the Swiss National Bank, where Giovanni co-authored a Working Paper on the exchange rate elasticity of the Swiss current account.
During a Ph.D. internship at the IMF, Giovanni examined the impact of US-China trade tariffs on ASEAN economies. In addition, he has authored reports for Building Bridges, the world’s largest sustainable finance forum.
With his work nearing publication in leading journals, Giovanni is committed to delivering impactful, policy-relevant research at the intersection of international macroeconomics and trade.
